The news below is updated with something every day, well, every other day. It was updated just before you got here.

May, prices for Leviton, DSC, X-10 continue to drop as the US/Canada pricing spread is starting to trickle down in wholesale pricing. Still a large spread on DSC products, but they appear to have dropped about 5% over last month

Back from England, an interesting cold damp country where a bad cup of coffee is 3.40$, pack of smokes 15$, gasoline, 2.85$+/L, and a million dollars does not get you much of a house....great to be home. Oh yeah, housng prices in the UK are predicted to drop 40%.....

April 9-23 will be out of the office, an unplanned trip to England, now according to HP/Rogers/O2/Virgin you should be able to call and send email. Transparent, seamless integration. This should be interesting, try email first. Product will still be shipping, I'm just not there.

if you have a DICON 330L in your hand want want to replace it with a SA360: There are no more DICON GLOBAL SA360 smoke detectors left, all gone, finito. We do have however all of the remaining DICON SA379 Smokes which are the same BUT they have a 9 volt battery (included) with them. This is mandated in some states/provinces.

We have after 20 years changed our FAX number. The ubiquitous FAX, secure, reliable, it's like the boat anchor of business. Send us an order by fax and save 5%. our new fax number is 905-471-6322, write '5% off' on the order, heck we can't give this offer to everyone

Having problems with the security certificate on the order entry screen. Not everybody is getting the lock in the bottom right hand corner of their browser. I am, are you ? Order Entry Screen thanks, Doug Harper It appears that IE/Firefox is good, AOL/GOOGLE is not, hmmmm

Spring has arrived in Canada: 11C in the office, -4C outside, BUT the sun has emerged. One of our many spring sports is that of driving your snowmobile over frozen lakes, and see if you live, and of course, the traditional melting of the igloo. Spring is a time when a young mans thoughts turn to putting away the snow shovel. Spring is good

As the bouyant currency market bounces, my cost of goods is getting creative, orders over 500$, especially Leviton, it's best if you ask for a quotation. DSC alarms is simple, if you want a Canadian approved product, you have to pony up the price. U.S. priced Canadian approved product does not exist. Simple as that. An interesting situation. I can supply you U.S. approved product at U.S. pricing, plus a bit to feed the kids, or I can sell you Canadian approved product. We do not ship Smoke Detectors to the US unles UL approved. In the design of a system, consider the implications of a non approved elements and your assorted insurance policies, for example. WHATEVER you do, GET the BIGGER BATTERY !

Its a good thing tha we are ALL moving over to the Amero. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, click Amero. I must have blinked and missed the part where the Government of Canada asked for my opinion on this. Check this link out YouTube.

Right from the horses mouth: Tech update from X10 PRO Hello everyone, The latest XPFM inline receiver module in the warehouse are confirmed that they "DO" respond to ALL LIGHTS ON!! I am sure that this feature will help open additional applications for using X10 products. The modules with date codes having this feature started at 07L52. There are more new features on the way and we will keep you updated. Everett Stewart X10 Pro Sales Division 416-580-0104

Been playing with X-10 for 20 years, recently the CFL's are giving the industry grief, as well as the consumer. Getting harder to purchase a 60 watt old school lightbulb. X10/CFL both have to figure this one out. X-10 has the 3 wire dimmer, XPDI3IW. , but getting a reliable, low cost, dimming CFL is another issue. LED's are also a problem. Most X-10 based products consume parasitic power, which is enough power to drive LED's. Turn it off and it dims down. Turning CFL's ON and OFF is not a problem: XPS3IW XPS3IW.

Some of you have been asking about the Maple Syrup we give away with orders in the spring. Soon. The trees are still frozen. For those of you that have no idea what Maple Syrup is, then allow me to retort: It is a Canadian Delicacy, intergral to our polished cusine. In the spring we boil the sap from Sugar Maple trees and consume as a topping on anything, like bacon, for example.

Getting a lot of people shopping for DSC in the U.S. I'm with you on this, importing is the way to go in some cases. The DSC sold here is CSA, DOT, FCC, MIC-KEY approved. U.S. Models in general are not, with various implications. The power supplies are not CSA, Smokes are out totally, RF product fails communication. All warranties are void. The rest you are good to go on. Now you know.

Been playing with the DSC wireless keyfobs, they come with a belt clip assembly. This assembly is drilled for screws, which means you have a portable wall mounted keypad, sort of. Arm Home, Arm Away, Disarm, Panic + 1 programmable, Purfect. The fob just clips in and out, guess I should go take a picture

Some of you are asking about the items sold stamped 'Made in China'. I know, it's in the news, good stuff/bad stuff, I sell the good stuff, no room to store bad stuff, everythig is new, unused(for those that ask).

This just cracks me up, but is it legal ? Alarm Mines

Pricing: We show 3 primary currencies, the Canadian Dollar, U.S. Dollar, and the Euro. With the current fluctuatins taking place in the global market, ignore all pricing except the Canadian one. The Euro vs. the Canadian dollar is pretty stable, but the change in the U.S. is flipping me out on the conversions.....I know I could build a 'proper' website.....but I'm not, this one works, and has worked well for past 15 years......

Welcome to 2008, you made it

Canada Dec 20th: A Canadian company, yes we are. To reduce gases we have lowered the temperature of our igloo to a balmy 7 Degrees C. causing us to use less ice in our beverages this Christmas season. May you have a joyous season. Cheers.

GS3060

DSC is pleased to introduce the latest advancement in wireless GPRS communications. The GS3060 provides enhanced features and functions above the rich features already available in the GS3055i. The benefit of the GS3060 is its “Advanced Panel Transmission Monitoring”. If the GS3060 determines the panel is having difficulty communicating over the telephone, because of telephone noise for example, it will switch the line to the GSM network to communicate the event. This feature is in addition to the regular line voltage detection. Attached is the GS3060 Sales Sheet for your reference. If you would like the GS3060 Installation Manual, please reply back and it will be forwarded to you. Product Features: • Compatible with control panels that communicate using the Contact ID format • Full event reporting • Uses GPRS data channel for high-speed, reliable and low-cost communications to an IP receiver • 4 on-board inputs • 4 on-board outputs (open collector) • SIM card (included) • Activation and initialization via automated telephone activation system (VRU) or web-user interface provided by CONNECT 24™ • Panel transmission monitors capability • Compatible with current Sur-Gard System II/III monitoring station receivers • UL / ULC listed

On a side note, Bell Canada has formally communicated their plans regarding the future of the analog network in Canada. Below is an excerpt but more details can be found at www.bell.ca/analog. “The evolution of wireless technology has lead to the end of analog networks and the transition to digital networks. As of February 18, 2008, U.S. analog networks will be discontinued and on November 16, 2008, Bell will shut down its analog network across Canada. This shutdown will impact clients with analog-only mobile phones, such as handheld mobile, 3 watt portable bag, and fixed in-car phones. A small number of clients with dual mode phones (analog/digital) will also be affected Current analog clients must upgrade to digital phones or PDAs over the next few months.”

We all have to have a Mission Statement, this one works for me:

"To provide tight and crisp visibility into the process so that issues can be de-bounced and de-risked while providing traction in order to drive a compelling resolution by circling around to close the loop going forward"
A quote from Steve 'The Arm' Turner

After doing this for almost 20 years, you have to have some humour, so here is a search engine buzzword babble of wizzle waggle..... Welcome to the Canadian eh, in Canada, Automation Website Store. Canadian search engines hunt down words like Canada. Canadian takes up to much space. But you could say Canadian Electrical Suppliers (Canada) for double points. Home Automation, Alarms, audio, video specification, Integration, relevation and Security Store, DSC Security Systems, Alarms, Cameras, Structured Wiring Systems. We have the DSC832, DSC POWER864, and MAXSYS Alarm Panels, and now the PowerSeries 1616, 1816, 1832, 1864, 1776. Thats why we are the Alarm Security DSC Canada Superstore of Security products, Move over GE, Wal-mart. . Search engines look for words in groups: DSC Motion Canada, Leviton Canada, X10 wholesale suppliers, X10PRO Canada, Smarthome Switchlinc, INSTEON, and of course Home Automation Lighting Control, Canada, just had to slide that in. Can't leave out stuctured media cabinets by DSC Concourse of course or the LIN Leviton integrated Networks Systems. I feel like I'm at the Acadamy awards. I'd also like to thank smarthome for the INSTEON Lighting controls systems, now I can remotely control my lights to look at the DICON 330L smoke detector replacements made by American Sensors.I'd like to thank leviton Canada for the current leviton trade dealer installer price list catalog, called the LEVITON 37N, full of great new products. Carbon Monoxide and American Sensor DICON Smoke Detectors. Below this is a map of Canada. We are a rather large country, a little North of the United States. The home of Santa. FYI: Canada supplies most of the worlds cold water that feeds the Artic. That water is now so warm that the Icecap and Permafrost is melting. Our majestic Polar Bears are about to become members of the endangered species list. The snow in the North is going away. Think about it as you look at this map. So you are a Canadian eh, name the rivers feeding the Artic, the second main river is the Churchill
